Enhancing Automotive Voice Biometric Technology through Multinational Data Collection

 

The Challenge

Our client, a multinational automotive company, needed a partner to assist them in developing and testing voice biometric technology. Turning to DataForce, our client advised on the specific requirements and demographics to successfully execute a multinational voice data collection and transcription project. They needed to cover a large population sample of 1,000 participants in both India and the United States, collecting 150,000 utterances per country.

Utilizing our global community, the DataForce team recruited, vetted, selected, and engaged contributors according to the requested age, gender, and accent demographics in both the United States and India. By tapping into our strong global network and working with our dedicated sourcing, qualification, social media, partnerships, and community engagement teams, DataForce ensured a quick ramp time and full adherence to the customer’s requirements. The applicant screening included location validation and accent assessment performed by experienced linguists.

Following the recruiting process, audio recordings were performed inside the test vehicles with specific parameters around time frames, background noise, and other elements. For example, contributors were asked to speak while the air conditioning was on versus off or while driving in an indoor versus outdoor setting. All data from the vetted participants was collected through the DataForce Contribute app and fed directly into our proprietary DataForce platform for a seamless end-to-end experience. The platform also aggregated timestamp, transcript, demographic, GPS, and recording conditions metadata, allowing many key learnings to be efficiently relayed back to our client.

DataForce achieved 98% accuracy from the data collected, and our client was able to use that data to successfully develop, test, and refine their voice biometric technology for in-car infotainment and driver assistance for a global driver base.
